IAM-GKN Negotiations Update | January 13, 2016

Your Local 387 Bargaining Committee is pleased to report that there was some positive movement today on a number of important issues brought to the negotiation table over the course of negotiations with the GKN bargaining delegation.

We are pleased to announce we were able to make movement in securing the COLA and COLA formula. Additional movement was made on short term disability.

These agreements were reached thanks to the hard work of your Bargaining Committee, which now opens up room to discuss and hone in on issues you told us were important in your membership surveys.

Items still on the table include GKN’s proposal to split classifications which threatens to dilute seniority for approximately half our bargaining unit, the actual general wage increase percentages and schedule, the pension multiplier, the company’s proposed increase in employee health care costs and changes in plan design.

Thank you once again for your continued show of solidarity and support from the shop floor. There’s still much more work to be done.

Join us for your Local Lodge meeting on Saturday, January 16 at 10 am at the District 837 hall, where your Negotiating Committee will provide updates and answer questions.

The contract vote will take place Sunday, January 24 at the Plumbers & Pipefitter 562.

For updates on the negotiations, visit the www.iam387.org website or follow the IAM Local 387 Facebook page.
